This Girl Can
Since 2015, This Girl Can has revolutionised the way we speak to women, empowering 2.9million more to get active across England. Funded by Sport England, This Girl Can is a celebration of the active women everywhere who wiggle, jiggle, move to prove there is no 'right' way of getting physically active. Whether it's running the school run, playing with the kids or getting muddy in the local park, This Girl Can celebrates the so many ways women and girls are getting active.
Men are more likely to 'strongly agree' that they 'find sport / exercise enjoyable and satisfying' with 36.9% of men agreeing compared to 25.3% of women (difference 11.6 %). This means that a startling 2.4 million fewer women than men find activity enjoyable. That is nearly the same number of people in 28 fully packed Wembley Stadiums. Enjoyment is vital because it is one of the biggest drivers of activity. Simply put, the more you enjoy something, the more likely you are to do it.

In Herefordshire and Worcestershire...
Since the campaign launch in 2015, Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, in partnership with schools, colleges, local authorities, leisure providers, community organisations and sports clubs, has delivered localised school campaigns, empowering females across the two counties through physical activity and sport.
Building on the success of the localised campaign, from 2020 we have been exploring new areas of work within the campaign. We have undertaken primary research, expanding our knowledge around antenatal and postnatal women, and their specific motivations and barriers to physical activity. We have produced maternity wellbeing resources and, with the help of partners, developed fertility fitness programmes. For more information, please visit our 'Mums & Mums To Be' webpage.
If you are an organisation looking to join us in supporting women and girls to be more active, you may wish to consider joining the This Girl Can Supporters Hub. Here you will find a range of tools and resources to support your marketing and campaigns.
