The Herefordshire Values Games
The School Games is a national programme, funded by Sport England through the National Lottery. The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in sport and physical activity. The School Games aims to put physical activity and sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with a positive experience.
Hereford School Games is embracing a transformative approach, shifting away from traditional competitive sport to prioritize inclusive and cooperative activities that foster teamwork, well-being, and holistic development among students. This innovative shift reflects a commitment to nurturing a supportive and diverse school environment.
In partnership with Stride Active, we deliver a number of county-wide events and festivals: Here Girls Can, Climbing for Confidence, Bowling, Basketball, Values Festival and the Herefordshire School Games Summer Festival.
The Herefordshire Values Games incorporates a mixture of participation and values-focused events where hundreds of young people come together and experience new and exciting activities.
The 2024-2025 Values Games will be held on Tuesday 8th October this year and are set to welcome over 700 young people from schools all over Herefordshire.
Following the launch of the new 'Eco-friendly' School Games value and the Birmingham 2022 Sustainability Pledge, we have made many changes to make our games more eco-friendly, and reduce our use of plastic and minimise waste at our annual events, such as, making a switch to a digital even programme.
