Active Workplaces
With 60% of our waking hours spent at work, and up to 75% of our time sat down, it can be difficult to find time to get active. Physical inactivity costs the UK economy over £100 billion per year, through sickness absence, reduced productivity and health-related losses. Encouraging your employees to become physically active can have numerous benefits for your business:
- Reduce sickness absence - active employees take 27% fewer sick days on average
- Increased productivity
- Reduce staff turnover by up to 16%
- Boost morale
- Improve employee satisfaction
- Increase company/business profile
- Reduce business travel expenses
We are here to support employers to change the culture around workplace activity and identify opportunities to get active throughout the working day.
What is Work Well Live Better? (PNG, 349 Kb, 2255x3544)
Work Well Live Better is a programme commissioned by Optima UK and Worcestershire County Council Public Health. It will play an important part in meeting a key priority within the joint local Health and Wellbeing Strategy, by working with businesses and organisations to promote inclusive, healthy, and productive workplaces.
"We spend a lot of our time in the workplace, and it makes perfect sense to encourage our businesses to look after their employees for great health and wellbeing. Movement and physical activity can play an active role in preventing and managing several health-related conditions, and the workplace is just another setting where we can promote the healthy behaviour of being more physically active. We look forward to working with businesses and giving them the tools to facilitate this advice to their companies and employees."
